During a complete restoration, the old concrete cupola of the elephant house in the zoo Hellabrunn has been changed into a filigree steel-glass-construction.
The main cupola has a height of 10,2 m and dimensions of 29,50 m x 37,70 m. Each of the 4 smaller cupolas has a diameter of 10 m. The new roof-structure consists of 80 tons of steel. The main cupola is located in the existing substructure and only fixed to the small cupolas.
