The Link Background Model command part of the PowerPack for Revit ribbon links the architectural background file in the MEP or Structural model. It allows you to choose between different options, such as transferring project standards from the linked file, copying scope boxes from the background file and creating the link room bounding.

Link background model command
Select the Link to Background Model command to open a dialog with several options:

Link background model dialog box
Link the background model by clicking on the browsing button to open a dialog and browse to a specific project path.
Transfer project standards: offers the possibility to transfer project standards, including: family types, line weights, materials, view templates and object styles, mechanical settings, piping and electrical settings, annotation styles, color fill schemes and fill patterns.
Manage scope boxes:
Copy scope boxes from the link to the current model: allows you to either copy the scope boxes from the linked model in the main model, or ignore them.
Room bounding:
Make the link room bounding: allows to make the imported elements room bounding. To indicate that an element should be used to define the boundaries of a room for room area and volume computations, you must specify that the element is room-bounding.
Manage existing levels:
Align existing levels: align the background model levels to the current levels.
Click on OK and PowerPack will display a dialog box and you can choose which Items to copy, if any.
