Combinations

 

Using this command opens the Combinations dialog, with two tabs: Combinations and Design.

 

Note: The command’s dialog box content changes depending on the country selected in the Localisation dialog.

1. The Combinations tab

 

This tab allows you to automatically generate load cases combination or to manually define them.

 

 

ULS: defines the ultimate state combinations (EQU, STR, GEO)

 

SLS: defines the service limit state combinations (Characteristic, Frequent, Quasi-permanent)

 

EC0 Equation: gives access to two methods for defining STR/GEO load combinations according to Eurocode 0: by using an equation 6.10 or equations 6.10a & 6.10b.

 

 

Number of combinations: displays the total number of defined combinations.

 

Title: displays the name of the selected combination / allows the user to enter a new name. By default, the combination name contains the load cases names and their coefficients.

 

Code: displays the code of the selected combination / allows the user to define a different code for the selected combination(s). The code of a combination corresponds to standard regulation.

 

Type: displays the type of combination / allows the user to select a different type.

 

The Generate button: generates the load cases combinations. When applied, the Concomitance Matrix dialog box opens.

 

The Concomitance Matrix dialog box allows the definition of the concomitance between load cases when generating combinations. The table contains all the load cases generated in the project, listed in rows and columns.

Each cell of the matrix defines the concomitance status between two loads (row load and column load) by a certain value:

 

 

A color is assigned for each situation. When changing the concomitance status, the field color changes accordingly.

 

Reset: resets all parameters to the initial values.

 

Rules: opens the Concomitance Rules dialog box, which allows the definition of concomitance rules between load cases or between load families.

The Concomitance Rules are defined in the corresponding tab:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Add: adds a new concomitance rule in the corresponding tab.

 

Erase: deletes the selected rule.

 

 

 

2. The Design tab

 

Allows the configuration of the load cases combinations.

The Combinations description column displays all the combinations created according to the selected standards, that will be used during calculation.

 

The Code column: displays the code of the corresponding combination.

 

Type: allows the definition of the combination limit state.

 

Duration: allows the definition of the action period (for example, the actions of the combinations that include seism cases are on the short term).
