Subdividing Elements

In Advance Design, you can subdivide linear or planar elements using reference objects (i.e., other linear elements, lines, etc.). The reference objects' axes must intersect the axis of the element to subdivide.

Linear elements can be divided into a specified number of segments of equal lengths.

How to access the command

How to subdivide a linear element into a specified number of segments

  1. Select a linear element.

  2. Access the command.

  3. Select the object(s) to subdivide.

  4. On the command line, enter a value representing the number of linear elements to obtain (e.g., 3) and press <Enter>.

The linear element is divided by the input value.

How to subdivide elements by reference objects

  1. Select an object intersecting the element to subdivide.

  2. Access the command (notice the command line message).

  3. Click the element to subdivide.

The element is divided by each intersection with the reference element; each subdivision becomes a whole entity.
