A planar vault is a set of consecutive planar elements forming an arc.
Below you can find the various methods to access the command:
From the Menu: select Generate > Structure > Vault Generator > Planar vault.
From the Ribbon: navigate to Objects tab > Vaults panel > Planar Vault.
After selecting the command you can explore the methods to create a planar vault.
To create a planar vault, follow these steps:
R = the vault radius
A = the vault span; A
2R
F = the vault deflection; F
R; F = R (1 - sin
), where
= acos (A / 2R)
The vault radius (R), span (A) and deflection (F) are calculated according to their correlation. It is possible to "block" a specified value for span (A) or deflection (F) by selecting the corresponding checkbox. The "blocked" value remains unchanged and the radius is automatically calculated according to the user-defined values. Also, span or deflection values can be automatically calculated according to a specified radius.
The coordinates of the structure origin. It can be defined by coordinates (X, Z) or graphically, by clicking the
icon and selecting the origin point on the workplane.
The number of planar elements on the vault length.
The number of planar elements on the vault depth.
The vault depth.
The vault thickness.
The Material.
