Generic Joint Properties

 

Generic joints are steel connections that can be created for any kind of shapes and geometry of steel linear elements. Unlike other steel connections, these connections cannot be checked by Design Module, however they can be used during data export to IDEA StatiCa Connection.

Generic joint properties

General

• Family: displays the family of connection.

• Identifier: view / modify the ID number of the element.

• Name: view / modify the default name of the element.

• Systems: view the ID of the system in which the element is located.

• Comment: insert observations regarding the element.

• GTC Identifier: view the identifier automatically assigned to the element after the GTC export / import.

• Connections Group: allows to specify a connection group to the connection. The connection groups allow the creation and management of all the connection groups of the model.

Connected elements

• ID`s of connected elements: list of ID numbers of connected elements (Prefixes: Linear elements = LE, Rigid punctual supports = RPS, Elastic punctual supports = EPS, Traction-compression punctual supports = TCPS).

By clicking the icon located on the list it is possible to edit the generic joint. A small dialog window is displayed for selecting the appropriate mode. When closing the dialog by OK button, the corresponding commands for the next steps are shown on the command line.

Edit connected objects

• Connected elements number: number of connected elements in generic point.

• Selected object`s index to view: Select a connected object within range (1; connected elements number) to view its short description.

• Data of selected object: displays information of main element to which the generic point was connected to.

  • Identifier: view / modify the ID number of the element  to which the generic point was connected to.

  • Cross Section: cross section of the element to which generic point was connected to.

  • Material: displays the material of which the generic point was connected to.

  • System: view the ID of the system in which the generic point was connected to.

  • Connected object type: type of connected element.
