Defining the Reinforced Concrete Design Settings - ACI / CAN/CSA

The reinforced concrete design assumptions defined according to ACI / CAN/CSA standards are applied in the analysis step, during the reinforced concrete calculation. The design settings can be modified in the modeling step and in the analysis step as well.

How to define the global concrete design settings

  1. Access the command: Main menu: select Settings > Reinforced Concrete Design > Design Settings / Ribbon > Analysis tab > RC Design panel > Settings.
  2. Define the concrete calculation assumptions by accessing the corresponding tabs of the Calculation settings dialog box.
  3. Click OK.

The calculation settings are defined for all the concrete elements of the model.

How to define the local concrete design settings of linear elements

  1. Select a concrete linear element or a group of concrete linear elements to define the reinforced concrete design settings.
  2. Access the element(s) properties window. The displayed properties are filtered using the drop-down list located on the top-right of the window. Select the Reinforced concrete properties criterion to display only the available reinforced concrete design properties specific to the selected code (ACI / CAN/CSA).

The available design properties of the element are function of the material type.

How to define the local concrete design settings of planar elements

  1. Select a concrete planar element or a group of concrete planar elements to define the reinforced concrete design settings.
  2. Access the element(s) properties window. The displayed properties are filtered using the drop-down list located on the top-right of the window. Select the Reinforced concrete properties criterion to display only the available reinforced concrete design properties specific to the selected code (ACI / CAN/CSA).

The available design properties of the element depend on the material type.
