Chained Linear Elements
In Advance Design, the chained linear element function creates end-to-end linear elements. The position of the element extremities can be specified by entering the coordinates of each extremity in the command line or by snapping to other objects.
How to access the command
Below you can find the various methods to access the command:

From the Menu: select Generate > Structure > Linear > Chained linear element.

From the Modeling toolbar: click
(click and hold 
dropdown list). -
From the Ribbon > Home tab > Linear & Planar panel > Linear section dropdown list > select Chained Linear Element.

From the Project Browser: right click a system and select Generate an entity > Structure > Linear > Chained linear element.
How to create chained linear elements
To create chained linear elements, follow these steps:

In the Project Browser, select a system in which to place the element (if you have not created the system tree, this can be done after you have drawn the model elements).

On the Modeling toolbar: click
(click and hold dropdown list). -
Configure the element attributes in the properties window.

Draw the linear elements point by point:
- Click the graphic area to define each extremity of the element (use the workplane, the snap modes and the measurement tools for easier modeling)
- Input the element coordinates on the command line (press <Enter> after each input to validate).

After creating all the necessary linear elements, press <Enter>. The linear element is created.

The coordinates of the end extremity of each element are the coordinates of the start extremity of the next element.
You can configure the elements properties:
- Before element creation, while the drawing tool is active. All the linear elements created with the chained linear elements function share the same properties.
- During the modeling. With the chained linear element tool still enabled, define different properties in the properties window. These settings will apply only to the elements which you are about to create.
- After the input, select each element and access the properties window.
After drawing the element, press <Esc> or right click and from the context menu select Finish to quit the drawing function.
