Timber Design Settings

The timber design settings are applied in the analysis step, during the timber calculation. The design settings can be modified in the modeling step and in the analysis step as well. After defining the settings during the analysis step, it is necessary to calculate the model again. The design settings may be defined at two levels:

The timber design settings are defined according to Eurocode 5. The design can be made using the general provisions or using the national annex of a specific country.

How to define the general timber design settings

  1. Access the command: From the Main menu, select Settings > Timber Design > Design Settings / Ribbon > Analysis tab > Timber Design panel > Settings.
  2. Define the timber calculation settings by accessing the corresponding tabs of the Timber calculation settings dialog box.
  3. Click OK.

The calculation settings are defined for all the timber elements of the model.

How to define the local timber design settings

  1. Select a timber linear element or a group of timber linear elements to define the design settings.
  2. Access the element(s) properties window. The displayed properties are filtered using the drop-down list located at the top-right of the window. Select the Timber properties criterion to display only the available timber design properties for the chosen standard.

The available design properties of the element depend on the material type.
