Shapes Optimization - Steel

 

Once the steel calculation is completed, the steel design performs an optimization of the steel elements, according to the settings made in the steel design settings dialog box. The steel expert compares the work ratio of the steel elements with the specified criterion, and proposes other cross sections, that would correspond to the imposed conditions. You can accept globally or partially the suggested shapes, then recalculate the model with the steel expert. You can iterate these operations until you obtain a work ratio comprised in the specified range for all steel shapes.

The list of cross sections from which the steel expert may suggest shapes can be defined via the Stored shapes command.

How to apply the optimized shapes

  1. After performing the steel calculation of the model, access the command as described above. The Suggested shapes dialog box appears:

  1. Select the optimization mode to filter the model's cross sections according to the specified criterion:

 

Notes

The table content is filtered according to the selected option.

The elements with a higher / lower work ratio than specified in the Steel design settings dialog box (according to CM66 or EC3) are displayed in red.

  1. To accept the suggested solutions, click in the corresponding cell of Accepted solutions column to retain the first proposed solution. You can also select other suggested shapes from the available drop-down list.

  1. Click OK to apply the selected actions and close the dialog box.

 

Note: The Reject all option cancels all the suggested solutions.
