Advance Design Ribbon - Objects Tab

 

The Objects tab in the Advance Design Ribbon offers a range of tools for the automated generation of specific objects and loads within your project.

Detailed Description of the Objects Tab

Below, we provide an overview of the commands featured on the Objects tab, grouped into logical panels. Explore the panels and commands available on the Objects tab for efficient project modeling.

 

1. Structure Designer panel

Provides access to the Steel Structure Designer module allowing you to design complete steel structures:

Default structure command in Advance Design

Select one of the predefined templates from the drop-down list.

Opens the "Structure Designer Geometry" dialog, where the user can customize the structure's elements.

2. Portal Frames command 

Opens the Model Library dialog box, allowing you to automatically create portal frames and trusses.

3. Vaults panel

Linear Vault command icon in Advance Design - Provides access to the linear vault generator,  allowing you to define the parameters of the automatically generated linear vaults.

4. Load Areas on Selection command

Enables the automatic creation of a load area on a selection of elements.

5. Supports Auto/Selection panel

7. Loads on Selection command

Allows you to generate loads on a selection of structure elements:

8. Pressure on selection command 

Opens Pressure generator dialog box, allows you to generate pressure on the selected planar element.

9. Notional loads command 

Opens Notional Loads Generator dialog box (first you need to select the load cases for which you apply the notional loads).

10. Climatic Loads command

Automatically generates climatic loads (this button will not be active unless you create climatic case families). Using this command, you can manually define any type of loading on your model, by entering the desired parameters in the properties window. At the same time, Advance Design provides a climatic load generator that automatically generates loads corresponding to the climatic actions (i.e., wind and snow).

Import convoy command

Import convoy command - opens the Convoy Import dialog box, enabling you to import a convoy (a selection of moving loads) library file.

12. Mass panel

13. Links panel

This panel allows defining of the links between degrees of freedom already at the stage of preparing a descriptive model

DOF constraint creation command in Advance Design

Creates a DOF constraint (a rigid connection between a node defined as master and other node defined as slave).

Elastic link creation command in Advance Design

Creates an elastic link (elastic connections between two nodes).

DOF restraints creation command in Advance Design

Creates a DOF restraint (used to block the translation and rotation degrees of freedom on the desired directions for the selected node).

Creates a link at node (link between DOF`s at the intersection point of linear elements).

 

14. Connections panel

Creates a base plate to connect columns (vertical linear elements) with point supports (fixed or hinged). The base plate is always placed at the column's end.

Splice creation command in Advance Design

Creates a splice to connect two colinear beams having the same cross section, for elements that match the following criteria:

  • I or H cross section

  • Colinear beams.

Beam-beam fixed connection command in Advance Design

Creates a beam-beam fixed connection, for beams that match the following criteria:

  • Symmetry by vertical axis (same slope and profiles for each side)

  • Connected beams are in the same plane

  • I or H cross section

  • Vertical oriented cross sections (vertical web)

  • No relaxations on beams extremities

  • No orientation.

Standard beam-column fixed connection command in Advance Design

Creates a standard beam-column fixed connection, for elements that match the following criteria:

  • A column (vertical linear element) with +/- 5° tolerance in relation to the vertical axis.

  • A beam (non-vertical element) with +/- 5° tolerance in relation to the horizontal axis.

  • I or H cross section

  • No relaxations on elements extremities

  • The beam and column's cross sections must be oriented in the same plane.

Arbitrary beam-column fixed connection command in Advance Design

Creates an arbitrary beam-column fixed connection, for elements that match the following criteria:

  • I or H cross section.

  • The beam and column's cross sections must be oriented in the same plane.

  • The beam and the column must be connected end to end.

Column under continuous beam fixed connection command in Advance Design

Creates a column under continuous beam fixed connection, for elements that match the following criteria:

  • The connected elements must have I or H cross sections

  • The column must be vertical

  • The end of the column must be placed on the beam

  • The beams angle with the horizontal must be a maximum of ±30º.

Tube connection with flange connection command in Advance Design

Creates a  tube connection with flange, for elements that match the following criteria (not available in current version):

  • Colinear bars having the same type of cross section

  • Tubular cross section (square, rectangular or circular tubes)

  • Elements that work in tension or compression (shear force and flexion moment are not allowed).

Welded tube connection - 1 secondary bar command in Advance Design

Creates a welded tube connection - 1 secondary bar, for elements that match the following criteria (not available in current version):

  • The main element must have I, H or tube cross section.

  • The secondary element(s) must have tube cross section(s).

  • All the elements must be connected.

  • The end of the secondary elements must be placed on the main element.

Creates a welded tube connection - 2 secondary bars, for elements that match the following criteria (not available in current version):

  • The main element must have I, H or tube cross section.

  • The secondary element(s) must have tube cross section(s).

  • All the elements must be connected.

  • The end of the secondary elements must be placed on the main element.

Tube connection with gusset plate - 1 secondary bar command in Advance Design

Creates a tube connection with gusset plate - 1 secondary bar, for elements that match the following criteria:

  • A main element (beam) with I, H or tubular cross section (square, rectangular or circular tubes)

  • Secondary elements (bars) with tubular cross section (square, rectangular or circular tubes)

  • All elements must be in the same plane.

  • The cross sections of all elements must be oriented in the same plane.

Tube connection with gusset plate - 2 secondary bars command in Advance Design

Creates a tube connection with gusset plate - 2 secondary bars, for elements that match the following criteria:

  • A main element (beam) with I, H or tubular cross section (square, rectangular or circular tubes)

  • Secondary elements (bars) with tubular cross section (square, rectangular or circular tubes)

  • All elements must be in the same plane.

  • The cross sections of all elements must be oriented in the same plane.

Tube connection with gusset plate - 3 secondary bars command in Advance Design

Creates a tube connection with gusset plate - 3 secondary bars, for elements that match the following criteria:

  • A main element (beam) with I, H or tubular cross section (square, rectangular or circular tubes)

  • Secondary elements (bars) with tubular cross section (square, rectangular or circular tubes)

  • All elements must be in the same plane.

  • The cross sections of all elements must be oriented in the same plane.

Beam-beam hinge with angles command in Advance Design

Creates a beam-beam pin with angles, for elements that match the following criteria:

  • Horizontal or perpendicular beams

  • I or H cross section

  • Beams are connected with each other.

  • Beams are in different planes.

  • The two flanges of the secondary beam must be placed within the two flanges of the main beam.

  • No orientation.

Creates a beam to 2 secondary beams pin with angles, by connecting two separate secondary beams simultaneously on both sides by means of clip angles.

  • Selection of a column (vertical linear element)

  • Selection of a beam (horizontal linear element)

  • I or H cross section

  • The beam is connected to the column.

  • The beam's cross section must be perpendicular to the flanges or the web of the column.

Creates a column to 2 secondary beams pin with angles. In this connection to the web of the column, two separate secondary beams are connected, simultaneously on both sides of it by using clip angles.

Creates a dimension line that measures specified points in the drawing area, displaying the values for lengths, angles, and altitudes.
