The Modifications of longitudinal reinforcement bars / Changes of the longitudinal reinforcement dialog box allows the configuration of the column longitudinal reinforcement and the visualization of the reinforcement generated during the concrete calculation.

Theoretical R: the calculated value of the theoretical reinforcement.

Warning

The Theoretical R field is highlighted in red when the user defined diameter or the user defined number of bars make the real reinforcement area smaller than the requested value.

Preview image: displays the linear element cross section image with the corresponding reinforcement (the number, place and diameter of the reinforcement bars). The main bars are highlighted in red and the secondary bars are highlighted in blue.

Real R: the real reinforcement area.

Imposed values: when enabled, the parameters defined in this dialog box are not modified during the concrete calculation. The user should obtain the interaction curves issued from these custom values.

Diameter selection drop-down lists: defines the main and secondary reinforcement bars diameters.

Tip

Use the "up" and "down" arrow keys to scroll faster the lists of the main and the secondary reinforcement diameters. The real reinforcement area is displayed automatically according to the selected diameters.

Reinforcement bars table: defines the number of principal and secondary reinforcement bars.

Calculated values: reverts to the reinforcement determined by the program.

Cross section tools: launches the Cross sections module, if the selected cross section is user type.

Interaction curves: opens the Interaction curves dialog box, allowing the visualization of the interaction curves for the selected linear concrete element:

My/Mz: the interaction surface obtained by dividing the 3D interaction curves with a cut plane corresponding to the Fx value. By default, after performing the concrete calculation, the Interaction curves dialog box displays the Fx value corresponding to the case that determined the maximum theoretical reinforcement (see the cases drop-down lists at the top-right corner of the window). The engineer may study several interaction curves corresponding to several Fx values; the force component position can be verified by selecting the desired case from the drop-down list.

Fx/My and Fx/Mz: classical axial force / moment interaction curves.

Angle: the neutral axis angle. By modifying the angle value it is possible to study different interaction curves.

Analyses drop-down list: defines the analysis to study.

Fx: axial force.

Abscissa: allows the definition of a certain abscissa for which you can obtain the force component value (for horizontal linear elements).

: creates the post-processing.

The graphic area displays the interaction curves for the selected analysis. By double clicking the graphic area you can access the Curves dialog box, which contains commands for displaying / editing the curve components and allows an advanced visualization of the curve. By right clicking in the graphic area you have access to the curves display configuration tools.

If the Detailed rebar definition on beams and columns option in Settings > Reinforced Concrete Design > Design Settings >  Calculation sequence is checked before reinforced concrete calculation, the Modifications of longitudinal reinforcement bars dialog box allows you to define all the bars (longitudinal and transversal) of a reinforced concrete column:

Reinforcement bars preview: displays the linear element's longitudinal and transverse bars and the column elevation.

Cross-section preview: displays the linear element's cross-section with the corresponding reinforcement. The main bars are highlighted in red and the secondary bars are highlighted in blue.

Select values for the main and secondary longitudinal reinforcement.

 

Transverse bars tab

It allows the user to define the transverse bars in the 3 different zones of the column (extremities and current zones), as defined in the EN1992-1-1.

Define series of transverse bars, specifying the diameter and spacing for each series.

Reinforcement bars window – shows the transverse reinforcement formworks. By default, an optimum number of packages are proposed, but they can be manually modified.
