Connection Groups

 

The connection groups command allows the creation and management of all the connection groups of the model.

Connections groups

Family: allows the selection of the connection type.

Name: allows the user to enter the name of the connection group.

Id: displays the identification number of the connection group. When a connection is added to the group, the identification number of the connection group appears in the name of the connection, in the Project Browser.

: adds a new connection group in the project's connection groups table.

Connection groups table: displays information about the connection properties and the properties of the connected elements:

Tip

To hide the columns that are not needed: right click anywhere on the column that you want to hide and select Hide this column from the context menu. To return to the initial display, select Display all columns from the context menu of any column.

: deletes the selected connection group(s).

Tip

To select a connection group in the table, click any cell of the connection group. When selected, the connection group row is highlighted.

For selecting other connection groups at the same time:

Purge: deletes all the connection groups which are not assigned to connections.

How to add connection groups

Using the Connection groups command
  1. Access the command as described above. The Connections groups dialog box is displayed.

  1. Select the connection family type from the family drop-down list.

  1. Type the name of the connection group in the Name field.

  2. Click .

A new row is added in the connections groups table. The table provides information regarding the connections and the elements that they connect.

 

Automatically

Connection groups can be created automatically, using the following procedure:

  1. Select at least two connections of the same type.

  2. Right click in the drawing area and select Connections > Group from the context menu.

The connection group is created. To rename it: in the properties window of the connection click Connection Groups, then click and enter the new name in the "Name" field.

Note

When a connection is added to a group, the connection group identification number is added to the connection name. This way, the connection group to which the connection belongs can be easily identified.

 

How to delete connection groups

  1. In the Connection groups dialog box, select the row of the connection group to be deleted.

  2. Click .

The connection group is deleted.

Tip

To select a connection group in the table, click any cell of the connection group. When selected, the connection group row is highlighted.

 

How to purge unused connection groups

In the Connection groups dialog box, click Purge.

All the connection groups which are not assigned to connections are deleted.
