Configuring Graitec BIM Import / Export Options

 

The Graitec BIM tab from the Options - Application dialog box in Advance Design defines the Graitec BIM import / export settings.

Features of the Options-Application dialog box

The Graitec BIM tab is divided into several sections, each one containing different options.

  1. Export options

Export meshed model - When enabled, the GTC export file will consist of segmented descriptive elements.

Export forces -  has two options for the export of forces:

Export theoretical reinforcement - When enabled, the GTC export file will contain the theoretical reinforcement.

  1. Analytical model check

Minimal distance between extremities - Set the distance between the extremities of the linear elements that should be connected (useful when applying the Auto Trim & Extend and Check control commands from the CAD Modifications toolbar).

  1. Always ask for confirmation when synchronizing data from Design Modules

If the option is checked, when switching from Design mode to Analysis mode while an object is open in Design Modules, an update prompt appears, asking the user whether to apply changes to the corresponding model element before closing.

If the user checks the "Always apply" option, the option "Always ask for confirmation when synchronizing data from Design Modules" will be deactivated.

 

  1. Always transfer envelopes to Design Modules for steel connection elements

Decide how internal forces are transferred into Steel Connection module for a single joint: by using efforts on every load case or the envelope.

 

  1. Export loads to Design Modules

The last scenario is useful especially when you want to perform design calculations based on the results of nonlinear analysis, when the superposition rule cannot be applied for combinations of results from simple cases. As a result, you get the values for the internal forces from the individual combinations in the design module. In case the nonlinear analysis was carried out for only a part of the load combinations, you can see in the Combination/Design tab of the Load and combinations window, which combinations are derived from the nonlinear analysis.
