Advance Design 3.1

On January 2nd 2008 GRATEC launched the latest version of Advance Design: 3.1

Advance Design was specifically developed for industry professionals that require a superior solution for the structural analysis and design of Reinforced Concrete and Steel structures.
Advance Design 3.1 features include easy modeling, a powerful FEM analysis engine, top-level design wizards, automated post-processing of results and automated reports.

What’s new in Advance Design 3.1

The new version 3.1 of Advance Design has several improvements in all major areas of the software. The most significant changes are in the calculation of connections, the creation of calculation reports and the interoperability with Advance Concrete and Advance Steel.

Calculation reports

Version 3.1 provides a set of new options that facilitate the creation and design of calculation reports:

• Creation of a custom results table allowing the user to define the contents of the table, the type of displayed values, units, load cases, and detailed information.
• The rules manager filters the result values available in the calculation reports, keeping only the ones selected by the user.
• New table design options allowing the user to split the tables into several columns.

Interoperability

Advance Design 3.1 integrates the "GTC" (GRAITEC Transfer Center) - GRAITEC's exclusive technology. This technology offers:

• Import/Export data in standard formats: CIS/2, SDNF, PSS, IFC 2.x3
• Synchronization in Advance Design of modifications made by users with other Graitec Advance software (e.g.: cross section modifications, adding/deleting structure elements, etc).
• The ability for multiple users to work simultaneously on the same project and to synchronize their models.

This technology avoids double entry and data loss. It secures projects by minimizing error risks.

Other improvements

Several other improvements, not listed above, are also available:

• Compliancy with 32-bit Windows Vista
• New module for creating and calculating mechanical features for all sections
• Libraries for storing parts of structures
• Initial constraints on linear elements (along x, y, z local axes)
• Elastic links between nodes
• etc.

- Compatibility: Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista
- Available in: English and French
- Updates for clients with maintenance contracts: from December 20th, 2007

Installation requirements

To successfully install Advance Design certain requirements have to be met:

Hardware:

• A PC computer or compatible equipped with a Pentium IV processor (or equivalent)
• 512 MB RAM memory (1024 MB recommended)
• At least 150 MB space available on the hard drive for installation
• A CD-ROM reader
• Windows compatible graphics adapter (128 MB video RAM recommended)
• Windows compatible printer or plotter with supplied drivers
• Mouse

Software:

• Operating System: Windows 2000 Pro or XP Pro (or newer)
• Screen resolution: 1024 x 768
• 24 bit color palette recommended

Before installing Advance Design, you must:

• Under Windows 2000, XP or Vista make sure that you have administrator rights.
• Close all open applications.
• Make sure that the provided security key is plugged in to the computer.
