Advance Design 2012
On February 1st 2012, GRAITEC is launching Advance Design 2012, a finite elements analysis software for reinforced concrete and steel structures.
Advance Design® BIM system is dedicated to structural engineers who require a comprehensive solution for simulating and optimizing all their projects. It includes: a user-friendly structural modeler, automatic load and combination generators, a powerful FEM analysis engine (static, dynamic, time history, non linear, buckling, large displacement analysis, etc.), comprehensive wizards for designing concrete and steel members according to Eurocodes, efficient result post-processing and automatic report generators.

What's new in Advance Design 2012
Version 2012 of Advance Design focuses on the integration of new international codes and timber design EC5. It also provides many improvements in the implementation of EC1, 2 and 3.
New international codes
- The software is available in German, English, French, Polish, Romanian and Czech.
- All National Appendices of these countries are available for Eurocodes 0, 1, 2, 3 and 8.
- Advance Design 2012 also performs the analysis and design of concrete and steel structures in accordance with U.S. standards ACI (for reinforced concrete) and AISC (for steel construction)*.
- For our users in the UK and Canada, an important improvement was implemented in the interface between Advance Design and SuperSTRESS (UK) and between Advance Design and Advance Design America (Canada).
New Timber Design module
- New design module for timber frames to Eurocode 5 (German, English, French, Romanian and Czech National Appendices)
- Optimization of sections with verification of resistance, stability (buckling / lateral-torsional buckling) and determination of residual sections for fire verification
- Detailed calculation reports
Improvements to Eurocodes 1, 2, 3
- Management of buildings open on the dominant face to Eurocode 1
- Calculation of cracked inertia for linear and planar elements
- Verification of stresses and crack openings as a function of the real reinforcement implemented in the element
- Implementation of the Baumann method for reinforcement plates to Eurocode 2
- Definition of restraint points for the automatic determination of the effective length for lateral-torsional buckling calculations to Eurocode 3
- Calculation reports redesigned and code specific calculations now contain clause references and show the intermediate values used in the calculation process and intermediate values and the references to clauses of the standard are displayed
Result Post-processing improvements
- New display of the main axes
- Clipping of forces on linear elements
- Automatic calculation of torsors of seismic forces along any sections
- New tools for stress analysis on sections with result curves along the element
Improved ergonomics
- Running software functions directly from the command line
- Models of element properties to facilitate modeling of the structure
- New display options for properties of selected elements
- Recording of scripts of commands
- Launch of Version 2012: February 1st, 2012

Installation
To successfully install Advance Design certain requirements must be met:
- PC with Pentium Processor min. 2 GHz (4 GHz recommended)
- Main memory min. 2 GB
- Windows compatible graphics adapter (128 MB video RAM recommended), with the latest video driver (recommended by the manufacturer), with support for OpenGL
- Network adapter
- DVD Drive
- Windows compatible printer or plotter
- Required disk space: approx. 400 MB
