Project description:This project consists of a new tapered design footbridge over the River Frome manufactured from weathering steel.
Handrail stanchions were drawn as AutoCAD® 3D models. Fittings for the cable stays were supplied by the manufacturer as IGES models.
The biggest challenge was the tapered design of the bridge - full integration with AutoCAD made drawing relatively straight forward as familiar tools and processes were employed.
Solutions provided by Advance Steel for this project:
- The transfer of the IGES model to Autodesk Inventor® then to AutoCAD® as an ACIS solid and finally into Advance Steel as a special part with much reduced file size
- Sending accurate fixing detail to site ahead of delivery to keep installation and crane time to a minimum
