GRAITEC awarded EUREKA label for R&D

Paris , July 19, 2004 : GRAITEC's FT - EXPERT project wins the EUREKA logo for innovative R&D from the European commission's annual meeting held at the end of June ( Eureka reference 3335).

Started in 1985, The EUREKA program is an intergovernmental initiative for technological cooperation that associates 33 European countries and the European Union. Its network encourages industry to engage in cooperative R&D to reach new markets. The Eureka logo is an internationally recognized symbol of quality and innovation.
Developed in partnership with CCS, a Greek corporation, the objective of the FT - EXPERT project is the creation of a construction engineering software platform that gives professionals simultaneous access to live complete project design information from the initial design steps to final civil engineering work. Information exchange is optimized and completely integrated thus following a particular simulation engineers have complete timely information and can take action without prejudice to other professions.

Based on the FT - EXPERT project, a first application will soon be available for structural simulations that conform to European EUROCODE rules. One of its innovative features is an engine that automatically transforms the Building Information Model into a mathematical model for finite element calculation in order to save time and allow fluid information exchange with related applications.

For Francis GUILLEMARD, CEO of the GRAITEC group: «The Eureka logo rewards and sustains innovation efforts led by GRAITEC and CCS. This recognition gives us inertia for new partnerships with industry leaders of every engineering discipline in order to propose THE complete numeric simulation solution for engineering design offices».

Created in 1986, GRAITEC is a major software developer dedicated to Structural Engineering and Construction. Our software is used by more than 5000 customers and has been at the heart of major projects. With more than 160 associates GRAITEC is present in more than 30 countries.

CCS, based in Athens, specializes in metallic construction software that has been used in major European projects. Its CEO is responsible for the accidental loads workgroup of the European commission for EUROCODE 1 definitions.

This new technology will be integrated in several components of GRAITEC's next generation structural calculation software. Code-named FT - OFFICE, the software will be available before the end of the year and will present among other innovations:

A user friendly graphic modeler to easily describe     structures with more powerful and efficient tools     (ex: Define a camera path and record video     sequences of structural distortion, etc.)
A calculation engine that adjusts itself to     complex geometry (progressive meshing, meshing     density on faces, 8 or 9 node elements...)
Calculation report generation that allows real script     recording including graphics that can be replayed     during iterations.
