Advance Steel and Advance Concrete selected by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU), a Lithuanian faculty
Paris, France, April 29th, 2010. GRAITEC, a major worldwide developer for analysis has been chosen by the "Faculty of Fundamental Science" in Vilnius for student projects. Geobaltus Ltd., a GRAITEC authorized reseller in Lithuania, was in charge of recommending GRAITEC Advance Solution to the university.
Vilnius Gediminas technical university is one of the largest technical universities in Lithuania. Established in 1993, the Faculty of Fundamental Science includes the following departments: chemistry and bioengineering, physics, graphics systems, informational system, informational technologies, engineering graphics, mathematical statistics, mathematics modeling, strength of materials, engineering mechanics. More than 100 scientists and 33 professors work in the Faculty of Fundamental Science.
The University of Lithuania chose Advance Steel and Advance Concrete for its students in order to enable them to apply the latest CAD technological developments in their projects. The software is primarily used by students in the Master program of Informatics Engineering at the Department of Computer Graphics. The main activities of this department consist of modeling, visualization and control of geometric and numerical information of technical objects in computer-aided designing and training systems. The department also works on standardization of technical graphic documentation according to ISO and EN requirements.
The aim in using the GRAITEC solutions is to enable students to get familiarized with Advance Steel and Advance Concrete software and to perform their study projects. Advance Concrete and Advance Steel will be used in the following study courses: electronic document management, technology of applied graphics, computer-aided design models and algorithms, advanced software engineering, computer-aided design technology. For example, the syllabus of Electronic Document Management contains a review of special systems and their using in practice, the management of CAD documents, the integration of CAD systems, etc.
Linas Gabrielaitis, GEOBALTUS, comments: "The software enables students to use the latest technological developments of CAD in their own study projects, such as, integration of CAD systems in their project management, construction management, modeling of steel and concrete objects."
Ernestas Cepulionis, VGTU, adds: "Students will not only acquaint themselves with powerful modeling tools and simulation engine but they will also learn the project management principles. What's more, they will have the possibility to understand the new CAD technologies that are used in the modern construction industry."
