AVEVA PDMS to Integrate with GRAITEC Advance

HOUSTON, Texas, (daratechPLANT2006), January 24, 2006 - GRAITEC has formed a strategic alliance with AVEVA (LSE: AVV) a leading provider of engineering lifecycle solutions to the oil and gas, process plant, power and marine industries.

The alliance unites AVEVA’s PDMS technology, which is widely used to design and maintain onshore and offshore processing facilities, LNG terminals, power plants, and ship topsides, with GRAITEC’s world-class “Advance” engineering products for steelwork and reinforced concrete design. PDMS users will gain the ability to supplement existing steelwork layout design with a dedicated solution for AutoCAD-based steelwork detailing and automated drawing production. This will enable the exchange of fabrication and control information with steel fabricators.

A full integration of PDMS and Advance for steelwork users will be available in 2006. Utilizing a proven integration capability, it will provide sophisticated control of the engineering changes that arise during design. A production-tested, two-way interface is available immediately so that early adopters can take advantage of this advanced steelwork capability right away.’

“This alliance is one of many favorable results of AVEVA’s strategic development partnership with Autodesk,” commented Richard Longdon, CEO of AVEVA Group plc. “We will be able to deliver a seamlessly-integrated product within a very short time period thanks to our mutual support of the AutoCAD platform in PDMS and GRAITEC’s Advance - Steel. This integrated solution will make it possible for commercial builders in the traditional AEC industry to use AVEVA’s piping solutions, and expand market penetration of both GRAITEC’s products and Autodesk’s AutoCAD into the process plant industry.”

"We are really pleased about this AVEVA / GRAITEC partnership” says Thierry Lamidieu, COO of GRAITEC Group. “This alliance will allow our mutual customers to benefit from an integrated Piping / Steel and Concrete Structural Solution which will bring them added value and increased productivity.”

VANTAGE Plant Design Management System (PDMS) is a data centric, multi-disciplinary solution for 3D process plant design featuring applications and reference data for every engineering discipline. It differs from conventional 3D approaches by not requiring a drawing engine, but producing graphics directly from a single, coherent data model of the entire plant. First launched in 1976, PDMS's architecture was designed to evolve: it has done so through many leading operating systems during the progress of the IT industry. The system offers compatibility with all previous versions and many other leading industry systems.
