Customer Projects



The following are descriptions of a few GRAITEC customer projects created with Advance Design, Autodesk Advance Concrete and Autodesk Advance Steel. Project characteristics are briefly described along with the advantages of using the various GRAITEC solutions. Our customers have generously made available some DWF files for your perusal.

Software used : Advance Design.
Design and Construct of Lines 2 and 3 extensions to the Nottingham Tram system. STB1 Nottingham Station Bridge is the central element of three bridges carrying the new tram line.

"Taylor Woodrow's Temporary Works Department carried out a full analysis of the launch, to model the temporary effects on the bridge superstructure and to derive effects on the temporary supports. A 3D frame was created in SuperSTRESS, and the support positions varied to represent the progress of the launch. Output from the model was verified by comparison to the analysis carried out by the permanent works designer, Mott MacDonald. To construct the model, the centrelines of the bridge elements were derived in an AutoCAD model, and imported into SuperSTRESS. The load for the partially constructed deck slab used the Area Load feature. The model featured sprung supports to represent the stiffness of the support piers and foundations."

The project represents the recovery of a transmission Tower measuring 76 m height. Engineers first recreated the model of the existing structure and, then, proposed new geometry solutions.

The structure of this project also consists of a building with 7 levels, a studio and a circular shaped restaurant and a hexagonal tower with a steel cover rising to 77m height and a concrete/steel front.

The project is located in Ivory Coast, West Africa and has a total mass of 204.209 tons. The Roll-Off Material tip consists of a bin which is fed raw material by a D777 dump truck, from here an Apron feeder extracts the material.

The project "Office Stairs" consists in straight parallel stairs with 2 intermediate platforms, railing and handrail attached to the wall for the Hartmann's company headquarters.

The project represents a geriatric psychiatric pavilion of 25 units including a basement and a first floor with patios and a partially vegetated flat roof that supports solar panels.

For architectural considerations a boxed ceiling was chosen. The boxed ceiling is used over all levels of structure and represents the biggest challenge for formwork and reinforcement drawings.

"Using Advance Concrete, formwork drawings were created automatically, which resulted in a dramatic shortening of working time for this project. The reinforcement was made easily due to the simple and intuitive way of how bars are created. Bar numbering, bar details and their symbols were also created automatically. After seeing what it means to work with a 3D model, to visualize an entire structure detailed, not just lines, I wouldn't go back to working in 2D."

The structure of the building includes three parts: an absorber, a station for pumps and blowers and house for elevator, scale and process tanks.

Liège law courts extension is a major project that was already partly erected. It includes complex forms, such as: curved walls, honeycomb floors, prefabricated façade elements.

 New exhibition centre hall     |     OKF s.r.o.     |     Czech Republic

Software used : Autodesk Advance Steel.
The biggest exhibition hall in Central Europe with a free standing area of over 20000 m2 (steel frameworks of 2400 tons) holds a modern exhibition hall and a new entrance to the exhibition center. The steel load-bearing skeleton is composed by trusses with frame installations on both of its ends. The west-facade, made of glass supported by the steel sub-structure, represents the window-case in contrast with the simple geometry of the latest generation sandwich-panel cladding.

" With Advance Steel, the 3D modelling of steel frameworks of "Pavilion P" enabled the realization of the model complexity and the detail control in the workshop documentation. To expedite the tube structure fabrication, the information from the 3D was directly used for the fabrication of particular elements. Using Advance Steel improved the demanding deadlines both for the project and for the steel structure delivery period."

SC Pavial SRL designed “Warehouse for concrete and tower for machinery” project for Cemrom SA. With the help of Advance Design was possible for pillars to be articulated in foundation, made of grid sheet with variable section. 3D orientation, available in Advance Steel made possible the synchronization of the two models, tower and hall, in a single model.

"The changes due to technological theme change (relative to the hall or doors position) could be made effortlessly thanks to customizable connections in Advance Steel, while maintaining the line position of alike joints.
Plant weights were significant, particularly of concrete. The influence of vibration developed by this weight could be verified using a temporary dynamic analysis. Stairs and railings were made easily."

The concert hall consists of 500 tons of steel. A specific feature of the project was the creation of the whole steel construction. The construction mainly consists of three-dimensional rolled pipes. Additionally each single pipe had elliptical-shaped radii on two levels. The parts of the steel construction had to be connected in an elegant way, to give the building a perfect façade.

The arrival hall of the new terminal of the Moscow airport is connected to the parking garage with an overpass. The overpass has a double bend curved steel-roof construction, which was modeled in Advance Steel by Heinrich Lamparter Stahlbau GmbH & Co. KG.

 Touring stage for the U2 360° Tour     |     STAGECO     |     Belgium

Software used : Autodesk Advance Steel.
STAGECO did the complete steel structure for the touring system (technical design, calculations and fabrication), which has a final structural weight of 240 tons per system, plus 70 tons steel ballast and base frames. All workshop drawings were created by Advance Steel, providing all necessary information for an accurate fabrication.

The model of the existing steel structure was designed for the reconstruction of the Prunerov II power plant. Noving s.r.o used a satellite geodetic measurement technique to obtain the power plant coordinates.

The project consists of a new bridge for bicycles and pedestrians that will be built over the Wupper river in Leichlingen, Germany. The structure modeled with Advance Steel has a total length of 42.60 meters and a span of 42 meters between the support axes. "La Mediacité" is a construction project aimed to revitalize the Longdoz site in Liège, Belgium. TPF Engineering has obtained the commission for the construction plans of a commercial complex of more than 160.000 sqm. and for the redevelopment of several streets. The design office used the Advance Concrete's functionalities to their maximum capabilities, especially the multi-user function of the program.

The new ski jump for the Olympic Winter games was constructed by Bitschnau GmbH from Austria. The commission of the Bitschnau GmbH included the realization with workshop drawings and assembly of the ski jump, the referee tower and other steel elements of the jump.

Plauen Stahl Technologie GmbH constructed the cable-stayed bridge between Niederwartha and Meißen. The Bridge will consist of 1232 tons of steel and will be over the Elbe River. It will be the first cable-stayed bridge in Saxonia and the longest one in Germany.

The canopy at the main entrance of the casino in Duisburg was designed by Innovations-Verbund-Systeme GmbH & Co. KG. The canopy has a weight of 50 tons. It is fixed to the curved walls of the building at a height of 10 meters. The span of the canopy at the front side is 30 meters. The span at the entrance wall is much smaller which makes it look like a funnel.
