Graitec PowerPack for Advance Steel - Staggered Connection
This new feature has the ability to create staggered bolts/holes/anchors/shear studs allowing the user to switch between bolts/holes/anchors/shear studs without having to recreate a pattern with a different connection. Working with a single plate or on multiple elements the connection can be a straight pattern or based on 4 types of stagger which allow the user to manipulate and create a variety of pattern connection combinations.

Graitec PowerPack for Advance Steel - Lifting Lug
Safety regulations or simple good practice requires assemblies or large parts to be fabricated with additional reinforced lugs or holes in order to lift the element into the right position on site. The new Lifting Lug/Hole function available with the Graitec PowerPack automatically places holes or lugs according to the centre of gravity (COG) of linear parts or assemblies, or on large planar elements (plates) by indicating a lifting point and the lugs’/holes’ position. With options to control the contour and size of the holes, as well as control the shape and size of the Lifting Lug, adding reinforced pads around the hole, choosing from welded or bolted connections, or adjusting the placement position (top, bottom, left or right) the Lifting Lug/Hole function delivers fast results and is an essential tool to your Advance Steel modelling tool box.

Graitec PowerPack for Advance Steel - Intersection Connection
Many situations necessitate a beam or a plate to be connected at a point where they intersect above or below another member, usually requiring a gap between the two members to be filled by packer plates or a defined section. The Intersection Connection joint automatically calculates the thickness and number of plates (which can also be divided in either direction) or section size needed, which can also be stiffened. Both welded and bolted configurations are supported using round and or slotted holes.

Graitec PowerPack for Advance Steel - Cellular Beam
Similar to the Castellated Beam the Cellular Beam, formed by welding two halves of the same beam profiled with a circular pattern, offers unique benefits. This tool allows you to accurately model, detail and schedule standard Cellular Beams based on the height and opening dimensions available from suppliers catalogues, including ArcelorMittal profiles.

Graitec PowerPack for Advance Steel - Castellated beam
The castellated beam, formed by cutting a beam length-wise following a hexagonal pattern is becoming widely used for its strength and versatility. Create a true representation of a pre-ordered or supplier’s hexagonal Castellated Beams (such as ArcelorMittal) in your model and, using a selection of joints from Connection Vault and PowerPack connect them with other elements. The Castellated Beam can also be detailed in single part drawings, assembly drawings and display accurate length and weight on BOM's.

Graitec PowerPack for Advance Steel - Beam with Openings
Ideal for accommodating a wide range of needs including Mechanical and Electrical services, this tool allows you to model a Beam with openings created from a welded I beam or standard section. Simply insert the section and using the easy dialog place and adjust openings to suit your needs. As with the Castellated Beams the beam with openings can be detailed in single parts drawings and in assembly drawings, and accurately display length and weight on BOM lists.

GRAITEC PowerPack for Advance Steel - Beam Continuous
Similar to drawing Polyline, this tool behaves like Beam Repeat but enables the user to create a continuous section and in multiple directions. Either snap to existing points (such as a 2D plan) or just change mouse direction and type a length. Then when you are done hit Enter to modify the beams together.

GRAITEC PowerPack for Advance Steel - Beam Repeat
This fast and easy to use tool speeds up the model creation by allowing multiple beams to be drawn repeatedly without having to open or close the section dialog after every beam. Simply click return when you are done to manipulate all instances of the beams added simultaneously.

This powerful connection works on welded beams (I + 2T section or I + T section) and was designed to connect 2 beams/columns using a variety of connection combinations. GRAITEC PowerPack for Advance Steel - Compound Stiffeners
Adding and manipulating multiple stiffeners on a Compound Beam is a breeze with the new Compound Beam Stiffener joint. The connection works on welded compound beams (I + 2T section or I + T section) by adding single or multiple stiffeners for reinforcing the sections. The shapes and sizes of the Stiffeners are easily adjusted globally or singularly to accommodate weld reliefs, mitres, contours, etc according to the needs of the user.

GRAITEC PowerPack for Advance Steel - Folded Plate Extender
Quickly create multiple folds on an already folded plate with our Folded Plate Extender. By picking a plate edge this tool creates another folded plate on that edge with the same dimensions and settings of one selected, and then adjust the size using the object grips and fold dialog to change the angle.

Often plates or gratings used on platforms require stiffening. The “Plate/grating stiffeners” joint in PowerPack creates stiffeners from plates or sections arranged parallel with the selected edge or in various combinations. With options to arrange additional stiffeners perpendicular to the main direction, position the stiffeners above or below the plate, add chamfers to the edges, control the intersection conditions of the perpendicular stiffeners either dividing them between or adding a contour, and so much more, the Grid Stiffener makes it easy to get what you need fast.

NEW - Advance Steel 2014 - Powerful tools for creating weld preparation on beams
This movie demonstrates how you can easily create a bevel cut on any edge of a beam including on round sections.
The beam display types have been enhanced in Advance Steel 2014 so that the bevel cuts remain displayed if you choose the "Standard" representation type. In addition, a new display type is available which shows the beam corners.


NEW - Advance Steel 2014 - Redesigned "Connection vault"
Advance Steel 2014 has a redesigned "Connection vault" providing the option to specify your favorite connections.
In the Connection vault, the joints have been reorganized within the different groups so that you can easily find the right connection to use. It is possible to stretch the dialog to make it bigger or to better see the preview on the right; the dialog can also be minimized to save screen space. The user has access to ta new icon on the right of each connection to add the connection to the new "Favorites" group now available in Advance Steel 2014.


NEW - Advance Steel 2014 - Search filter enhancements
Advance Steel 2014 has nice enhancements for the Search filter. The results are now displayed in a newly designed dialog where you have the list of all found elements.
Then it is very easy to double-click on one of the lines, it zooms directly to the right element which is also marked in red. The user can go to the next found element just by clicking on the next line.


NEW - Advance Steel 2014 - Interact on the orientation of the views on drawings
This movie demonstrates how the user can interact on the orientation of the views displayed on a workshop drawing.
If the user would like to get his drawing but with a different orientation of the main view on it, this is easy to go back to the 3D model, rotate the UCS as desired and then apply again the "Define assembly detailing orientation" and pick the part so that it gets oriented like the current XY plane of the UCS in the model.


NEW - Advance Steel 2014 - Enhancements to the smart dimensions on drawings
Advance Steel 2014 includes enhancements to the smart dimensions on drawings.
This movie demonstrates the powerful behavior of the smart dimensions in Advance Steel on a workshop drawing.
In the example, we show how the drawing of a plate having different polygonal openings "features" can be dimensioned by the user with smart dimensions, and how these dimensions get automatically updated with revision clouds in case of modifications in the 3D model.


Direct link between Advance Steel and BIM Review from AceCAD
GRAITEC and AceCAD offer a direct link so that a 3D model done in Advance Steel can be successfully imported in BIMReview and then StruMIS. This movie demonstrates how users may take advantage of this link by exporting the Advance Steel model to a *.gtcx file format and how this fully detailed model is imported and can be viewed & manipulated like any other BIMReview model.

Advance Steel 2013 - New purlin hip joints
Advance Steel 2013 provides new automatic connections for connecting purlins to hip and valley rafters.
In the properties dialog box, the user can modify any value such as the center plate or the wing plates and the result is immediately visible in the 3D model.

ARTEC discovers Advance Steel 2012!
Patrice REMACLE, managing director of the engineering office ARTEC (France), explains how he uses Advance Steel daily to study the design of steel construction projects from the initial conception stage using the 3D model to the automatic creation of all related documents.
Mr. REMACLE also explains why he wanted to be associated with the validation of the new 2012 release of Advance Steel by being a beta tester. It is possible to use several multiplication factors with a distribution with Advance Concrete 2012.
And there is a specific setting to apply a predefined symbol to evaluate the multiplication factor.

Cut distributions
Add/remove bar to/from cut distribution with two new buttons on the Smartbar.
It is also possible to add fictive bars or fabrics to a cut distribution with Advance Concrete 2012

List - highlight and export
There is a new checkbox on the Smartbar for a rebar list to highlight all the bars and fabrics in a specific highlight color.

This video tutorial helps you discover how to define design roles in Advance Design for a steel analysis. Once created, design roles are assigned to the corresponding elements. Thus, you can configure the desired design properties once, and then easily apply them, with one click of the mouse, to a selection of elements.

Steel profiles calculation
This is a short demonstration of how to configure and run the steel analysis, using the specialized commands available in Advance Design: selecting the load combinations taken into account in the steel analysis, defining the global steel design hypotheses and running the steel calculation sequence.

Displaying Steel analysis results
Discover the various functionalities dedicated to steel results post-processing available in Advance Design.
Once the steel calculation is done, the dedicated results post-processing tools are activated and ready to use. Thus, you'll be able to view the results distribution on steel profiles by colors, values, on selection, by filtered elements, etc.
You can also learn how to view the shape sheet for each calculated steel element, and how to create a report from it.

This is an example of using the steel profiles optimization feature, available with the steel design module of Advance Design.

Synchronization of an Autodesk Revit Structure model with Advance Design
An Autodesk Revit Structure model can be exported to Advance Design, the finite elements analysis software of GRAITEC, using the new GTC format.
The initial model is synchronized with the analysis and optimization result, without losing any adjustments (e.g., add, modification, delete).

Meshing capabilities available in Advance Design

Once the mesh has been created, you'll discover the different ways to modify and refine it in no time (using lines and polylines, defining progressive mesh, etc.).
