Answer

To modify material names, the AstorBase.mdb database must be modified.

Step 1 - Open the Database

- Start the Management Tools by selecting MANAGEMENT TOOLS on the start menu of Advance Steel.
- Start the 'Table Editor' application.
- Click the OPEN DATABASE icon and choose AstorBase

You can also open it with Microsoft Access in the folder:
...\Program Files\Graitec\AdvanceSteel\Steel\Data\AstorBase.mdb

Step 2 - Modify the Database

Bolts:
- Open the 'Source' table.
- Search for the material names to modify (e.g., ASTM A325).
- Change the material name to the required one (e.g., A325).
- Change both columns.
- Open the 'Standard' table.
- Search for the material names to modify (e.g., ASTM A325).
- Change the material name to the required one (e.g., A325).
- Change the second column "RunName".
- Do not change the Key column.
- This will change the BOLTS material.

Profiles:
- Open the 'Material' table.
- Search for the material names to modify (e.g., ASTM A36).
- Change ONLY the columns: "RunName" and "Drawing".
- Change the material name to the required one (e.g., A36).
- Do not change the Key column.
- This will change the Profiles material.

Step 3 - Reload Advance Steel

- No Save is required in the Management Tools.
- You must reload the information by clicking the last icon on the "List And Checking" toolbar called "Update Default" or by simply closing and re-opening Advance Steel.

From now on, your changes will be available in the model and reflected on the detail drawing as well as the lists. Drawings already created will not be changed.
